The rate of histamine formation (histamine forming capacity, HFC) was determined in serial sections of the kidney of pregnant mice and in alternate sections the number of glomeruli was assessed. A significant degree of correlation between the number of glomeruli and HFC was found indicating that in the pregnant mouse kidney histidine decarboxylase resides mainly in the cortex.
