A method is described for cannulating the efferent duct of the prefemoral lymph node in sheep so that lymph can be collected, if necessary for periods of weeks, under physiological conditions. By this means lymph was collected from 100 preparations; on average, the lymph flowed at a rate of 5 ml. per hr. and, after antigenic stimulation of the node, contained 50,000 lymphoid cells per c.mm. The method is suitable for British breeds of sheep kept in ordinary pens and the surgical procedure is simple.
