Observations on flow patterns and platelet behaviour at vascular forks have been made in small blood vessels of rabbit ear chambers. At vascular forks and junctions, localized variation in the width of the marginal plasma zone has been noted corresponding to areas at which intimal thickening is known to occur in distributing arteries. Platelet sticking and the formation of microthrombi did not tend to favour vascular forks or junctions. Observations did not indicate that eddy currents predisposed platelets to stick or to form thrombi.
