The ovarian follicle of the domestic hen was examined for nerves, and it has been shown that this structure is extremely well innervated. A network of nerve fibres was found in the follicular stalk, with smaller bundles running out to the walls of the follicle. A large number of nerve cells have been shown to be present and structures resembling mammalian receptors were demonstrated. The possibilities regarding the origin of the neural components of the follicle have been discussed.
