1. The presence of branches of the fifth nerve distributed to the extraocular muscles in the goat has been confirmed. 2. These branches have been found to carry mainly impulses from muscle spindles. Impulses from tendon receptors have also been found. 3. They probably also carry impulses from pain endings in the muscles. 4. The γ efferents to the muscle spindles run in the motor nerve fibres. They have not been found in the branches from the fifth nerve.
