1. A method is described in which the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the conscious dog have been determined by means of an oscillometer connected to an occluding cuff applied to the femoral artery, previously enclosed in a skin loop. 2. The accuracy of the method has been confirmed by comparison with the values recorded by an optical manometer. 3. The effects on blood pressure and heart rate of occlusion of the carotid arteries and of emotion have been recorded.
