1. In the isolated cat's heart an increased CO 2 content of the perfusing fluid is associated with heightening of the T wave of the electrocardiogram when the electrolyte composition of the perfusing fluid is kept constant apart from bicarbonate change. 2. Under similar conditions a reduced CO 2 content is associated with a fall in the T wave potential. 3. The coronary flow changes in the same direction with the T wave, but equivalent changes in coronary flow alone do not cause similar changes in the T wave. 4. The significance of these findings is discussed.
