1. During the absorption of olive oil in the rat there is a transient development of clearing activity in the plasma. 2. In rats given a fat‐free diet there is a complete absence of plasma clearing activity; the slight activity which may occur in plasma from animals on a normal diet disappears. 3. The clearing activity of plasma during fat absorption is destroyed by incubation at 37° C. for 2 hours.
