1. Histamine injected intravenously evokes a typical motor response in different parts of the large intestine. 2. This action is diminished but not abolished by previous injection of atropine. 3. Histamine in 0·1 to 0·2 per cent. solution of HCl is absorbed from the small and large intestine in sufficiently large amounts to stimulate intestinal motility. I am indebted to professor B. P.
