The result of Arneth counts in various common mammals are presented, and the causes of variation discussed. A portion of the expense of this research was defrayed by a grant from the Earl of Moray Fund. We beg to thank Mr Miller and Dr Calder of the Animal Breeding Research Department for allowing us to use their material.
