The main active principle in the skin secretion of the South African clawed toad is a sympatho‐mimetic substance similar to but not identical with adrenaline. In addition there is a varying proportion of a principle which stimulates the parasympathetic nerve‐endings. The expenses of this research have been defrayed by the Council of the University of Cape Town.
