A preliminary report is given on the effect of ultra‐violet light on the Arneth count of rabbits. It is shown that a single exposure can produce a definite deflection of the count, and that thick window‐glass is opaque to the active rays; further, that fur is to a large degree protective against the rays, and it requires to be closely clipped or shaved if the full effect is to be obtained. This research was carried out under grants from the Carnegie Trust, and from the Moray Fund, and during the tenure by one of us (W. P. K.) of a Carnegie Research Fellowship.
