The evidence available points to the conclusion that the large sweeping waves seen during asphyxia in curarised animals are identical with similar waves sometimes noticeable in the arterial blood‐pressure tracings of uncurarised animals. They are probably of vaso‐motor origin; it seems appropriate to designate them after their original discoverer Traube. The waves described by S. Mayer are of an entirely different nature, and are produced in an artificial manner: they have no physiological significance.
