this paper is to generalise this comparison in such a way that order andtype become dual to each other in the sense of convex analysis (section 4), and to showthat the concept of order so obtained appears as the natural answer to a problem ofextrapolation: to extend convex functions from the union of two parallel hyperplanesto as large a set as possible (section 7).
