We establish a formula for the ℒ‐invariant of the adjoint p ‐adic Galois representation of cuspidal eigenform that is of finite slope at p . The formula relates the ℒ‐invariant to the derivative of the U p ‐eigenvalue of the Coleman family, generalizing a result of Hida.
