Medical science is an important field of knowledge in a society or civilization including the Malay community. This knowledge is highly regarded and appreciated in the Malay states. Health care involves physical and spiritual health. At present, medical knowledge is more likely to cure physical illness than spiritual illness. This can be seen as the field of practice recognized by the government in Malay medicine only involves physical health. Therefore, this study is important because in Malay medicine, healthcare involves two categories of health i.e. physical health and spiritual health. This study examines one of the problems of spiritual health which is a miserable illness based on Malay medicine. The study was aimed at identifying the types of treatments for indigestion based on Malay medicine. The question of this study is: 1) What is the type or level of illness? 2) How to treat the illness? This study is a literature review and the method used is qualitative. The study was conducted to examine illnesses in Malay medicine. The main reference of the study is the book al-Rahmah fi al-Tib wa al-Hikmah (Compassion in medical science and wisdom) written by Shaykh Abbas Kuta Karang. The outcome of the study shows that Malay medicine is a complete and well-funded medical method and covers many aspects of life, not only for the treatment of physical illness.
