Key content Gynaecological malignant melanomas are rare and are most commonly mucosal melanomas. Prognosis is usually poor, with distant metastases often present at diagnosis. The introduction of targeted molecular and immunotherapy treatments may improve disease‐free and overall survival rates. Multidisciplinary management with involvement of gynaecological, dermatological and melanoma teams is imperative.Learning objectives To understand the initial presentation and how to investigate gynaecological melanomas. To appreciate the treatment options available for primary and recurrent disease. To understand and apply recommended follow‐up pathways.
