This paper investigates the evolution of regional performance in providing employment for disabled people according to L aw 68/1999 and the convergence process among Italian regions by stochastic frontier analysis ( SFA ) and local M oran transition probability matrix. The results show that the C entral and N orthern I taly regions are more efficient in the matching process between supply and demand for the employment of disabled people than S outhern I taly regions. In addition, we observe the absence of intra‐distribution mobility and the persistence of regional dualism (polarization), in terms of employed disabled people, among I talian regions.
