John Timoney is police advisor to the Minister of Interior in Bahrain. In 2010, he authored the book Beat Cop to Top Cop and was chosen as a Harvard Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He was chief of police of the Miami Police Department and police commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department, and he served for 29 years in the New York City Police Department, where he became the youngest four-star chief in the history of that organization.
