In the context of the Belt and Road Initiative, the short‐ and long‐term development strategies of China and Malaysia are highly consistent. Malaysia attaches great importance to infrastructure construction, while China is actively strengthening connectivity with ASEAN countries, providing both opportunities and challenges for Chinese enterprises investing in infrastructure construction in Malaysia. Through an analysis of detailed case studies, we analyze the background of Chinese infrastructure investment in Malaysia, examine major infrastructure projects invested and participated in by Chinese enterprises in recent years, identify the challenges to investment projects in infrastructure construction, and track the Sino‐Malaysian responses to these investments. This article gives perspective to the trends of Sino‐Malaysian relations in these investment activities.
