Intraosseous lipomas are rare, benign neoplasms that account for less than 0.1% of all bone tumours. They remain a diagnostic challenge due to their variable clinical and radiological features; consequently only 26 cases in the mandible have been reported in the literature. Here, we report an unusual finding of an intraosseous mandibular lipoma in a 68 year‐old female patient following a history of third molar extraction. We also review the clinical, radiographical and histological findings in previously documented cases of intraosseous mandibular lipomas.
