Torenia gracilis , a species closely similar to Bonnaya antipoda , was published by Bentham in Wallich's Numerical List without description and was later synonymised under B. verbenifolia , now a synonym of B. antipoda . In this paper, the nomenclature of T. gracilis Benth. (nom. inval.) is discussed and this taxon is treated within Bonnaya as B. gracilis sp. nov. with a detailed description and comments on its taxonomic identity.
