Glyphochloa shrirangii (Poaceae), a new species from Western Ghats, Maharashtra State, India is described and illustrated. It is similar to G. forficulata , but differs mainly in having culms not tufted, a branched inflorescence, different shape of the caryopsis and in having two awns in the pedicelled spikelet.
