A new perennial brome, Bromus orientalis , is described from Bingöl province in Eastern Anatolia, Turkey. The species is known only from the type locality where ca 50 individuals were found in 2018. It is similar to Bromus ramosus and Bromus benekenii but differs from them by having leaf sheaths without auricules and 3‐veined lower glumes that are 11–12 mm long. Detailed descriptions, distribution, ecology, conservation status and photographs of the new species are provided along with the comparison to B. ramosus and B. benekenii .
