Tricholepis khuzestanica Parishani (Asteraceae), a new species from Khuzestan Province, southwestern Iran is described and illustrated. It differs from its closely allied species T. edmondsonii Rech. f. in having stems almost simple and ascending or arcuate‐ascending, larger, ovate leaves with dentate margins, much larger involucres, phyllaries with a purplish apica spine and longer flowers. The ecology, habitat and conservation status of the new species are also discussed. In addition, the geographic distribution of the new species and closely related species is presented and mapped.
