Lactarius kumaonensis , characterized by the combination of presence of greyish olive viscid pileus with glutinous crenulate margin, unchanging white latex and very thick ixocutis type of pileipellis, is proposed as new to science. A detailed macro‐ and micro‐morphological description, illustrations and ITS‐based phylogenetic reconstructions are also provided.
