Summary S tachybotrys eucylindrospora was characterised as a new species in 2007, and we present the first report of this organism isolated from foreign material recovered from a patient. It is probable that isolates of this species have been previously identified as either S tachybotrys chartarum or S tachybotrys cylindrospora .
