Cover Illustration: In the ocellated wrasse, three types of male both cooperate and compete to fertilize eggs laid by females in a nest built by parental male type. Variation in neuroendocrine mechanisms, generated by experimental manipulation of the androgen signaling pathway, was significantly correlated with changes in social behavior and mating success under natural conditions in the wild, thus revealing the potential for sexual selection on these mechanisms.
