The literary and art journal The Yellow Book (1894‐1897) debuted to notoriety and in the ensuing decades has been one of the iconic publications of the 1890s aestheticism and decadence. This paper traces the critical history of The Yellow Book as a publication exemplifying the transition from Victorianism to modernism with an emphasis on the critical reception of its literature.
