This essay reflects on the much‐vaunted arrival of the electronic book and the devices which support it, such as the Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle, and explores the potential these devices have for the future of scholarly edition. The essay concludes by imagining a networked edition of Nicholas Love’s Mirror of the Blessed Life of Jesus Christ , and situates the electronic book in relation to the politics, and poetics, of bibliophilia.
