Traditional international relations theoretical approaches are radically divided between realism and idealism. A theoretical perspective is presented in this article to strengthen communication channels in the academic field. It includes the analysis of ideas, interests, and institutions as a means to understand the trends of C hinese actors in the C entral A merican and C aribbean Z one ( CACZ ). In this region, considered to be part of a conceptual geographization process, trade is not as important as it is in other areas. Also, C hina has differentiated economic relations with the CACZ countries; this article shows that trade is only one dimension of a complex growing relationship.
