Dr Coene et al. describe a very practical and apparently effective set of measures aimed at reducing blood loss by repeated collection of blood for analytic purposes in Intensive Care patients. It is very encouraging to see that these relatively simple interventions had a significant effect on clinically relevant outcomes in these patients. The authors are to be commended for their success in reducing unneccesary blood loss in their patients. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserve
