Intercellular fluids were obtained from leaves with local or systemic acquired resistance. Injection of such a fluid in a hypersensitive tobacco leaf followed by TMV inoculation resulted in reduction of lesion numbers and diameters when the fluids were obtained from LAR leaves on 5 or more days after inoculation and from SAR leaves at least 10 days after inoculation.
