Symptoms similar to Jujube witches' broom disease were observed on jujube ( Z izyphus jujuba ) plants in an orchard in X uchang C ity, H enan P rovince, C hina. Phytoplasmas were detected in one sample from symptomatic plants by nested PCR assay employing 16 S rRNA gene primers P 1/ P 7 followed by R 16 F 2n/ R 16 R 2. Virtual RFLP analysis of the resulting products ( F 2n R 2 region) shown that total of two different groups (16 S r I and 16 S r V ) phytoplasmas associated with the infected jujube. This is the first report of phytoplasmas mixed infection of jujube in C hina.
