Abstract Post‐myocardial infarction ventricular septal rupture (PIVSR) is a complication of acute myocardial infarction with high mortality. We report a new surgical strategy to treat PIVSR. Instead of traditional open surgery, the septal defect was repaired with periventricular closure off pump.
