This Editorial highlights a study by Hermey and colleagues in the current issue of Journal of Neurochemistry. In their study, the authors provide novel insights into single‐nucleotide polymorphisms associated with Alzheimer's disease and linked to the SorCS1 gene, toward a better understanding of the interaction of sorting receptor proteins which physically interact with the amyloid‐beta protein precursor (APP).
