Retraction

The following article from Journal of Neurochemistry has been retracted by agreement between the authors, the Journal's Editors‐in‐Chief Jorg Schulz, and John Wiley & Sons Ltd: ‘Ethanol disrupts axon outgrowth stimulated by netrin‐1, GDNF, and L1 by blocking their convergent activation of Src Family kinase signaling’ by Chen, S. and Charness, M.E., published in Volume 123, Issue 4, pages 602–612 (available on www.onlinelibrary.wiley.com ), The corresponding author (S. Chen) voluntarily contacted the Editorial Office to report several errors in the manuscript. The corresponding author submitted these errors for consideration as a corrigendum, because in the belief of the authors, the errors did not significantly impact the data or the conclusions of the manuscript. However, since the errors were numerous and differ in their nature, the reliability of the reported data was called into question, and the manuscript, therefore, is being retracted. The authors have expressed regret and apologize for any inconvenience that these mistakes may have caused. The errors in the manuscript are listed below: 1. Figure 2(c): There was a formula error in one GDNF plus PP2 experiment. 2. Figure 3(c): The image in the lower panel of the original Fig. 3(d) was reused for the lower panel of Fig. 3(c). 3. Figure 4(f): Selected bands from the lower panel of the original Fig. 4(e) were used in the upper panel of Fig. 4(f). 4. Figure 6(d): The image in the lower panel of the original Fig. 6(d) was flipped horizontally and vertically. Figure 6(e): Duplicate control and BDNF lanes were omitted from the calculation of the densitometry results in several experiments. One experiment was omitted, because the original gels could not be verified. 5. Figure 8(d): An image from an L1 plus PP2 experiment was mislabeled as L1 plus ethanol. Six new experiments were performed to provide correct depictions of the gel images. 6. An error was made in the calculation of the concentration of ethanol used in the experiments. The concentration of ethanol should be 19 and 79 mM, rather than the originally published 25 and 100 mM, respectively.
