Front cover : Histological section of the rat brain at the level of the third ventricle, hypothalamus, and median eminence. Neuropeptide Y (NPY), brown punctate color precipitate, and dipeptidyl‐peptidase IV (DP4), blue color precipitate, were immunohistologically stained. The data in this issue of JNC by Wagner et al. illustrate that the NPY‐cleaving enzyme DP4 may act as a “gate‐keeper” via N‐terminally truncating and shifting receptor specificity of NPY, which in turn is important for the communication between brain and periphery.Read the full article ‘ Proteolytic degradation of neuropeptide Y (NPY) from head to toe: Identification of novel NPY‐cleaving peptidases and potential drug interactions in CNS and Periphery ’ by L. Wagner, R. Wolf, U. Zeitschel, S. Rossner, A. Petersén, B. R. Leavitt, F. Kästner, M. Rothermundt, U.‐T. Gärtner, D. Gündel, D. Schlenzig, N. Frerker, J. Schade, S. Manhart, J.‐U. Rahfeld, H.‐U. Demuth and S. von Hörsten ( J. Neurochem. 2015, vol. 135 (5), pp. 1019–1037) on doi: 10.1111/jnc.13378
