Front cover : Stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM) and stimulated emission depletion (STED) are two super‐resolution microscopy approaches that have rapidly gained popularity in recent years. STORM is based on the precise localization of a large number of individual molecules that together form a super‐resolved image. Shown here is a two‐color STORM image of mitochondria with both the inner and outer mitochondrial membranes labeled (inner membrane: ATP Synthase, red; outer membrane: TOM20, green). These membranes are in close proximity to each other but can be clearly resolved using STORM.Read the full article ‘ Stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM) in comparison with stimulated emission depletion (STED) and other imaging methods ’ by J.
