Front cover: Positron Emission Tomography (PET) image of mGluR5 density in rat brain, acquired with the novel fluorine‐ 18 labeled tracer [ 18 F]PSS232. The metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) is involved in the regulation of synaptic plasticity and modulation of neural network activity. The density of mGluR5 is altered in various psychiatric and neurological disorders. Shown is a PET image of a rat brain (coronal, Bregma ~0 mm) after intravenous injection of 37 MBq [ 18 F]PSS232, a fluorine‐ 18 labeled analogue of [ 11 C]ABP688. Labeling with 18 F instead of 11 C bears the advantage of a longer physical half‐life and improved PET imaging logistics. PET data was acquired on an Argus PET/CT scanner (Sedecal, Spain) and superimposed on an MRI T2 template (PMOD, Switzerland). Red indicates highest radioactivity accumulation, i.e., highest mGluR5 (striatum), blue indicates lowest radioactivity. J. Neurochem . 2015, vol. 133 (3), pp. 330–342.Read the full article on doi: 10.1111/jnc.13001
