KNAT7 transcription factor plays an important role in secondary cell wall biosynthesis. However, the exact function of KNAT7 is still unclear. In this issue, He et al. (514–528) demonstrate that KNAT7 positively regulates xylan biosynthesis, which provides a new clue to the regulation network of secondary cell wall formation.
