After resolution of habitat fragmentation by an erosion‐control dam, non‐native brown trout Salmo trutta invaded the upstream side of the dam and displaced native white‐spotted charr Salvelinus leucomaenis in Monbetsu stream, Hokkaido, northern Japan.
