Front cover: A male of Callimedusa tomopterna calling from the branches above a pond in Tarapoto, Peru. This species is described from Peru and many populations throughout Amazonia have been identified using this taxon. However, the genetic distances among them, notably between Peru and the Guiana Shield suggest they belong to distinct species. A similar situation is found in many amazonian frogs.
