Summary In their life cycle, especially at early life stages, fishes pass through distinct growth stanzas with different length‐weight relationship patterns. Salmonid fish fry emergence from the redd gravel is a crucial moment in their life history. This study presents an ontogenic change in allometric length–weight relationship scaling of sea trout S almo trutta at the time of emergence from the natural redds in a small lowland stream of western Lithuania. The paper also gives shrinkage rates and correction factors for emergent S almo trutta fry after protracted formalin preservation.
