Many reactions in the solid state occur in multiple reaction steps. Here, I present a method of determining the kinetics of a two‐step consecutive reaction from isothermal, time resolved, powder diffraction data. This method is illustrated with a study of the kinetics of the formation of cordierite from a glass precursor with and without doping with zinc.
