Energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy map of a pre‐cracked SiC/SiC composite specimen exposed to 100% H2O environment at 0.1 MPa for 24 h at 1500°C. Multivariate statistical analysis was used to decompose the spectrum image into its underlying chemical components, which were then false‐colored and overlaid onto the 586 × 458 micrometer SEM image.
