In 1972, three subgroups of subjects were selected from a total population of three‐year‐olds in two towns in Mauritius on the basis of pattern of electrodermal responsivity. This study indicates that three years later in the case of intelligence and five years later in the case of rated patterns of behaviour these subgroups are behaving differently. Both electrodermal hyper‐responders and non‐responders who exhibit physiological indices found in schizophrenic population are less aggressive than a control population. Among males verbal intelligence is shown to be lower in the group selected on the basis of non‐responsivity.
