This study investigated differences in British Asian and white people's expectations about psychological counselling. Ninety‐eight general practice subjects not anticipating counselling completed the Expectations About Counselling (EAC) questionnaire. There were significant differences on 10 of 18 EAC subscales relating to client and counsellor attitudes and characteristics, and counselling process and outcome.
