The probability of item endorsement in the Ai3 test of anal character was found to be significantly related to item social desirability, but total scores on the test were unrelated to measures of social desirability. It is concluded that the test is adequately free of social desirability effects and that the experimental findings strengthen claims for the construct validity of the Ai3.
