A mode of therapy for severe problems of abnormal grief has been described by several authors (Ramsay, 1976; Lieberman, 1978; Mawson et al. , 1981). This article reports the use of a cathartic therapy with a series of 10 clients with severe but clear‐cut grief problems. Three case histories are given and the process and components of therapy are discussed.
